Apocalypse watch: The countdown to Sept. 28 has begun

With the “blood moon” or total lunar eclipse expected to occur on Sept 28, the debate if the apocalyptic predictions that it is the end of the world would happen is once more resurrected barely three years after the Mayan calendar did.

On one hand, NASA had issued a statement that the blood moon would not result in any asteroid hitting the Earth. . . . Mark Blitz, leader of the El Shaddai Ministries in Washington, agrees with NASA that there would not be an asteroid hit since the indicators of the end times are earthquakes which, he points out, have doubled in the last 10 years.

In March 2011, Japan was hit by a magnitude 8.9 earthquake that triggered a tsunami and destroyed the Fukushima nuclear power plant. On Thursday, Sept 17, a magnitude 8.3 shook Chile, killed at least five people and caused one million people to evacuate coastal towns as the tsunami flooded the areas.

Blitz has authored the bestseller “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs” that his followers consider modern prophecy. … Citing a verse in the Revelations, the last book of the Christian Bible, Blitz quotes the prophecy written by John, the author of the fourth Gospel, “And I beheld when he opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood …”
