Legacy of Rabbi Schneerson wins high profile recognition

Hundreds of Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis and supporters from nearly 40 states and more than 40 countries, including Israel, Uruguay, Cambodia, Canada, India and Australia, convened in Washington, D.C., for the international Living Legacy Conference to honor the legacy of the Lubavitcher rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of blessed memory.

The conference comprised a congressional leadership breakfast at the U.S. Capitol, a special living legacy lecture at the National Archives, an international luncheon for the diplomatic corps and international community and gala banquet at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium. …

Some prominent speakers and participants included Eric Cantor (R-Va.), House majority leader; Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), House Democratic whip; Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democratic National Committee chair; House Foreign Affairs chair Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) and dozens of members of the House and Senate; Adin Steinsaltz, talmudic scholar; Yona Metzger, Israel’s chief rabbi; Israel Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren; ambassadors and senior diplomats from almost 40 countries; Jeremy Bash, Department of Defense chief of staff; Howard Kohr, executive director of AIPAC; Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel; former Gov. Linda Lingle (R-Hawaii) and leading figures within the international Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
