On July 29, “science” took the Fifth … 111 times.

On Thursday, hours after a Senate committee voted to hold him in contempt of Congress, Dr. Anthony Fauci who identifies as “science” looked quite glum taking out the trash outside his D.C. digs.

Science’s wife was then spotted making an obscene finger gesture to photographers chronicling science’s bad day.

Sen. Rand Paul, who chairs the committee that recommended contempt charges against Anthony Fauci, responded to Fauci’s wife Christine Grady’s gesture:

“Is that how you plead the Fifth in sign language?”

The New York Post noted that, as Grady flipped off the photographer, “Fauci stared blankly out the window.”

Earlier Thursday, the Senate Homeland Security Committee voted 8-5 along party lines to hold the former Covid overlord in contempt of Congress.

If convicted of a misdemeanor contempt charge, Fauci could face up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Red State’s Nick Arama pointed to how the bad day for Fauci was “a far cry from when he was celebrated.”

That includes how The New York Times deified Fauci on his last day in government back in 2022:

The walls in Dr. Anthony S. Fauci’s home office are adorned with portraits of him, drawn and painted by some of his many fans. The most striking one is by the singer Joan Baez. The two of them, he said, “have become pretty good friends over the years.”

Dr. Fauci seemed a little uncomfortable with people knowing about the pictures. He said that previously when they were captured on camera, the “far right” attacked him as an “egomaniac.” If someone goes to the trouble of sending him a portrait of himself, he said, he would “feel like I’m disrespecting them” if he discarded it.

Republican senators contend that Fauci’s opening statement on July 29 — and the auto-pen pardon he received from Joe Biden for any potential crimes committed between January 2014 and January 2025 — prevented him from being able to plead the Fifth.

“The assertion of a Fifth Amendment privilege only adheres to those instances where the witness has a reasonable fear of future prosecution, and it must be tailored to any such fear,” Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley noted.

Meanwhile, three state attorneys general have also subpoenaed Fauci as part of a joint probe into the former Covid czar.
