Demonic? Cult support for Lindsay Clancy said to spotlights toxic feminism

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial ended its first day of deliberations Thursday without reaching a verdict.

The jury of nine women and three men is weighing whether Clancy is guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter in the deaths of her three children, or not criminally responsible.

Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. She does not dispute killing them but says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Outside the courthouse in Plymouth, Massachusetts, large crowds, predominantly women dressed in pink, have rallied in support of Clancy. Online, millions of dollars have been raised for her defense. Many frame her not as a criminal, but as a victim, and even a hero.

Her supporters and legal team argue that Clancy suffered from severe, undiagnosed bipolar disorder and experienced a profound psychotic break brought on by postpartum psychosis.

Critics point to what they say is a toxic manifestation of radical feminism or an “occult” ideological bubble which also exposes a stark double standard where a female perpetrator is automatically absolved of moral agency under the banner of victimhood.

Critics also point to the premeditation alleged by prosecutors — such as Clancy sending her husband, Patrick, on specific errands to clear the house — as proof of a calculated crime that should not be excused by a medical label.

The Post Millennial reported on Wednesday that a California obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN) is receiving massive backlash for posting a video on social media telling Clancy that she is “proud” of her.

Dr. Noa Sterling, a board-certified OBGYN and founder of the Obi pregnancy and postpartum app, expressed sympathy to Clancy, saying in the video that she has three children of her own and knows “how much work it is even when you are mentally well.”

Sterling’s statements sparked outrage, primarily from conservative critics. Some demanded that she be deprived of her medical license.

Meanwhile, Vanity Fair announced it revoked the credentials of a reporter who was working on a piece about the Clancy trial.

Brittany Romano was captured by CourtTV camera standing in the first row of the courtroom, wearing a green dress, smiling and winking at the camera. Romano is a childhood friend of Clancy.

“We were interested in the prospect of a personal essay written by Brittany Romano about her experience growing up with Lindsay Clancy,” said Vanity Fair in a statement. “Yesterday, after clear conflicts with our editorial standards and processes, we informed Romano that we were not moving forward with her essay and informed the court that she is no longer credentialed by Vanity Fair.”

Romano posted to Instagram: “Hello, my name is Brittany Romano, and everyone seems to have an issue with me.” She spoke about being in the courtroom, having “spinach in her teeth,” the “Luigi Mangione crisis,” and called out people who are “sitting in their living rooms giving X, Y, and Z.”

“If you were in that courtroom,” she went on, “every single day, I would love to know what your thoughts are.” She urged people to consider what they were saying because she’s “dating a lawyer.” She said she didn’t “work for Vanity Fair” and that people online were “trying to claim [her] childhood.”

Human Events Daily’s Jack Posobiec addressed the controversy surrounding Romano, who also writes for Teen Vogue, saying “I keep seeing the behavior of the crazy feminists who are in the courtroom now, smiling, laughing, and giggling. Not just one. There’s three of them in there for the cameras, while all of this is going on.”

“So this one in particular, she’s a writer for Teen Vogue, a reporter, mind you. She’s someone, the woman in green. Her name is Brittany Romano, and she’s posted all this publicly. So she’s a she’s a member of the press. She’s written for Business Insider. She’s written for USA Today, and she’s completely insane.” He noted that she’s also been covering the Luigi Mangione trial and been “in communication with him.”
