Following is an excerpt from the Prologue of ‘What I Saw at the Second Coming: Bloodline of Christ; The Big Story, Part II,‘ published in October, 2024. Part I was published in 2023.
Thy Kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
—Matthew 6:10, from the “Lord’s prayer”
Did Jesus Christ come to fix human civilization on Earth?
Or did his providential mission require only that he bring salvation through the cross for believers in the eternal world after death?
In other words, did the Messiah’s death and resurrection matter more than his earthly ministry and physical life?

These are not questions working journalists normally tackle. News values are rooted in the here and now.
But after more than 36 years as a newspaperman employed by the late Sun Myung Moon who founded The Washington Times and was believed by many to be the Second Coming of Christ, the author felt honor-bound to examine such issues.
Most would agree that the lives of Jesus of Nazareth and Sun Myung Moon have little meaning or relevance in today’s secular and politicized culture just as they failed to register on a universal scale during the time they walked the Earth.
Why is that? Apocalyptic prophecies of the Messiah’s advent suggested it would be impossible to miss. On the other hand, the gospel of Matthew warned he would come like a “thief in the night.”[1]
The Messianic Mission
North Korea-born Sun Myung Moon taught that the returning Lord would complete the mission of Jesus which was not an ethereal proposition nor was it likely to be readily welcomed by fallen humanity.[2]
The “second Adam,” he said, should have restored the failure of the first Adam by establishing a perfect family first on planet Earth before naturally transitioning to the eternal spiritual world. In that way, he would multiply goodness, not evil, and ultimately restore his own and God’s sovereignty in the Earthly realm.
In other words, God’s “Three Blessings” as recorded in Genesis[3] would finally be consummated.
For the Messiah, however, what should have come naturally in the Garden of Eden would not be easy because the world over thousands of years had been populated by the bloodline of Satan. In fact, it had literally become Hell on Earth since the Fall, he taught.
Therefore, he would need to establish a new foundation for his family which involved transforming followers from Satanic people to those who would demonstrate their faith in God’s spiritual truth and unite with him even at the cost of their lives.
Bloodline of Christ
Once established, however, that divine “True Family” or “Tree of Life” would displace the corrupted lineage, put down roots and become the Kingdom of God on Earth and thereafter in Heaven. This despite flouting the “norms” of a Satanic society and therefore inviting confrontation.
The importance of lineage in the Bible is documented in the very opening of Matthew, the first book of the New Testament in which the bloodline leading up to Jesus is detailed in Matthew 1:1–16 from Abraham to “Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.” A similar but different genealogy is recorded in Luke 3:23–38 which traces all the way back to “Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.”
The life of Jesus for the first time revealed God as “Father” to the fallen world, and his crucifixion and resurrection made possible salvation as “adopted sons and daughters” in the eternal spirit world.[4]
However, the premature death of Jesus cut short more than just his life on earth. His agony[5] went much deeper than humiliation, torture and agonizing death in the prime of his life. He urgently desired to complete his providential mission, Sun Myung Moon explained.
That he could not complete that mission, due to the faithlessness of those prepared to receive him and the passivity of his disciples, cut short his life on Earth before he could establish his family. That, he added, necessitated the Lord of the Second Advent.
According to Sun Myung Moon, the first chapter of Genesis[6] telegraphed the original ideal for the unified family of God and humanity in both the physical and spiritual realms. That grand and glorious plan, he taught, had been literally blown to Hell by the tragic Fall of Adam and Eve as represented in the third chapter of Genesis.[7]
The detailed explanation of God’s original ideal and how the fall of underage Adam and Eve occurred, including the role of the first pedophile Satan, was revealed by Sun Myung Moon in the first two chapters of his “Divine Principle.”[8]
So, does the Messiah’s life on earth matter? Clearly yes, according to the “New Truth” he brought.

Part I of “What I Saw at the Second Coming, the Big Story” elaborated on these and related issues from the limited perspective of the author, a journalist working in Sun Myung Moon’s media operations from late 1976 until Jan. 4, 2013. He found the Founder’s untold story manifesting in real time both fascinating and newsworthy despite being ignored by most corporate media platforms. ….

[1] Matthew 24:42-44: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
[2] Matthew 10:34-36: Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
[3] Genesis 1:27-28: So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
[4] Romans 8:15: The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
[5] Matthew 26:39: Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
[6] Genesis 1:27-28: So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”.
[7] Genesis 3:1-24: Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. ….
