Schiff vs. Garvey: Talk has finally become cheap again

Today’s headlineGarvey to unrepentant Schiff: ‘You lied to 300 million people, you can’t take that back’

Talk, talk, talk.

That would sum up political-media discourse in 2024. The days of sitting down with the morning newspaper are gone. Instead we are hammered by the spoken word via multiple formats, devices and in most settings from early morning to late night.

Adam Schiff, left, and Steve Garvey.

In the workplace, zoom calls and webinars are the norm. How well can you “present” could determine your commercial value as a commodity in the corporate matrix. Journalism student must have multimedia skills and the verve to connect with the target market.

Thus when senatorial candidates Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey squared off in the debate referenced above, the public and moderators had to judge who carried the day.

Watching the video above, it is clear that Adam Schiff is the champion talker. Steve Garvey is an athlete with a different style altogether. Using much fewer words than Schiff he made the telling and concluding point that, as the Bible put it, “every lie shall be revealed.” (Luke 12:2)

The age-old reference value of written facts and history which recently has become malleable is actually not. Objective reality, honesty, trust and Biblical values have absolute and lasting value. Political expedience? Not so much.

Back to the future.

This column assumes as hypotheticals the substantial existence of God on Earth and the temporary reign of Satan as the “god of this world”. References: Holy Bible, Divine Principle, What I Saw at the Second Coming.
