Videos taken by U.S. Navy fighter jets show ‘unexplained aerial phenomena’

U.S. Navy pilots took three online videos of UFOs, the U.S. Navy confirmed, but it had a different name for them: “unexplained aerial phenomena.”

Let’s see, unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and unexplained aerial phenomena (UAPs). Not the same thing. Dogs and cats, oil and water.

The videos are called “FLIR1,” “Gimbal,” and “GoFast” and record two encounters between Navy aircraft and the UAPs (not UFOs). They were leaked to the public without authorization by entities unknown.

One video was taken off the East Coast in 2015 by an F/A-18F fighter jet using the aircraft’s onboard Raytheon AN/ASQ-228 Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) Pod.

Another recording was made by a Super Hornet ATFLIR pod off the Coast of California in 2004. The pilots were based on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and can be heard discussing the objects with their crews and wondering loudly where they came from.

The videos were released for public viewing to the New York Times by former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge who may have had a fan base at the Pentagon.

In each case, the objects in the videos undertook impossible aerial maneuvers relative to current aviation technology, Popular Mechanics reported.

The New York Times reported that the objects “appeared suddenly at 80,000 feet, and then hurtled toward the sea, eventually stopping at 20,000 feet and hovering. Then they either dropped out of radar range or shot straight back up.”

Joseph Gradisher, speaking for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare, told The Black Vault that the Navy “designates the objects contained in these videos as unidentified aerial phenomena.”

“Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” is “the basic descriptor for the sightings/observations of unauthorized/unidentified aircraft/objects that have been observed entering/operating in the airspace of various military-controlled training ranges,” he said.

In other words the Pentagon is not saying that the “phenomena” are flying saucers piloted by undocumented [by earthlings] aliens.

DoD officials said the videos were not classified but that there was no known process for their release.
