When Jesus cried on the cross: ‘My God, my God what have you forsaken me?’ [Matthew 27:46], he no doubt knew the reason for the heart-wrenching anguish he felt. The first Adam had abandoned the grand plan his Father had for him with murderous implications for his bloodline, and so the tragic sacrifice of the second Adam was to be expected.
The Free Will of humans has both divine and evil potential whether in the Garden of Eden or Nigeria during the Christmas season of 2023.
The death of Jesus was a powerful template. His disciples, with whom he bonded in spirit after his crucifixion, all like Jesus died as martyrs. So did the great apostle Paul. The same fate befalls underground Christians in China and North Korea and in the once Christian Middle East. Militant Islam has created an ocean of Christian blood worldwide.
What if Jesus had been accepted? What if the powers that were in those times prayed for discernment, studied the scriptures and realized that God’s son should have been expected to speak truth to power?
Most believe at some level in the spiritual laws of karma, cause and effect. All have experienced losing their tempers and then stopping short of committing acts of violence. Or not. Our choice.
Did the murderers of the son of God have a choice or were they divinely inspired? They had a choice then and they still do now.
Stop the killing, stop violating God’s children and the Ten Commandments. “Come let us reason together, says the Lord.” [Isaiah 1:18]
